Research interests

My broad research interests are in wireless communication systems, with a particular emphasis on analysis, design, optimisation, modelling and experimental prototyping.

I am interested in specific applications of these systems, including but not limited to:

  • Wireless and cellular mobile communication technologies (efficient resource allocation, heterogeneous radio access networks, quality of service provisioning).

  • Smart cognitive technologies for dynamic and shared spectrum access (cognitive spectrum and radio resource management, spectrum monitoring and statistical modelling, spectrum sensing and signal detection).

  • Wireless Internet of Things (resource allocation, system modelling and prototyping).

I also have interests in areas of digital communications theory and in the application of artificial intelligence to communication systems (deep/machine learning).

I'm particularly passionate about research ideas that are founded in theory but can also be applied in real-world systems; my research work ranges from purely theoretical/mathematical analyses to experimental prototyping efforts for wireless, cellular, DSA/SSA and IoT systems.
